Back to blog!
So I’ve made my return to study, and now I officially declare that I have made my return to the world of blogging! Those who may stumble across my old blog will notice its retirement since November 2006, and while I regret not having maintained my online presence to such a level in the past year or so, I am glad to be back!
Setting up this new blog has re-ignited my passion for writing. Bizarrely, it’s quite easy for me to neglect the fact that I actually enjoy writing- I just get so distracted by my other passions that working with words often comes last on my list. It makes me wonder, is it the medium that defines the extent to which you engage in your passion or activity of interest? Or does it merely change the way you engage in it? As a songwriter, pen and paper are my essentials, as a blogger, well I guess that’s obvious… There is something special about words on the screen, both in writing and in reading them. Of course the implications of writing on the web plays a large part in this, but there is no denying that the architecture of hypertextual media itself, also strengthens the power of words online. The way that words through links, can open up new worlds of words is a definite advantage. The way that words through their visual appearance, can come to life, can have their own characters and emotions. The blog space allows for this to happen- it is up to the writer, the creator to make the most of what is available. Obviously, technical limitations have an impact, but they do not prevent the many powerful things that words can do within and beyond the blog. Maybe I never lost my passion for writing, I just disengaged in it for a while due to the alluring nature of other opportunities that opened up for me last year. But now as I blog this, I re-enter the web affirmed in this passion of mine and look forward to writing and essentially, blogging, much more.
